Job Summary:

Responsible for welding and assembling metal parts according to precise specifications while maintaining high standards of quality and productivity. This role requires a blend of technical welding skill, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

Knowledge and Skills (Education):

• Completion of welding related courses with certification and/or diploma in welding techniques
• High School education with mechanical aptitude
• Experience with Metal Fabrication- an asset
• Previous welding experience- an asset
• Ability to read drawings, blueprints and specifications- an asset
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervisor
• Minimum 6 months of manufacturing work experience

Major Responsibilities:

• Selecting, measuring, cutting, and joining appropriate metals to specifications.
• Inspect parts for weld quality and distinguish a good weld from a defective weld and causes of the defect.
• Basic Maintenance of welding equipment, in addition to ensuring the gas and wire are properly connected.
• Preparing metals and work surfaces to ensure safe and effective assemblage.
• Interpreting specifications and blueprints accurately.
• Understand Process instruction sheets.
• Determining correct gas ratios.
• Testing the strength of each join during and after project completion.
• Diagnosing issues and troubleshooting as required.
• Liaising with the line manager or supervisor, reporting any issues, and making suggestions for improvement.

Working Conditions: 100 % plant floor (PPE required)

Effort/Physical Demands Constant communication with employees, peers, and management Overtime as required
