Medical Assistant Compensation & Benefits

• $18-19.00 per hour
• Full-time benefits available after 90 days

Medical Assistant Schedule

• Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
• Hours 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Medical Assistant  Responsibility

• Perform initial patient screening following approved clinical protocols.
• Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, and patient information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Prepare for and assist providers during examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Administer and document oral and injectable medications and immunizations as ordered by the supervising provider while adhering to medication safety standards.
• Maintain accurate medication and immunization records in the EHR.
• Document patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
• Recognize and appropriately respond to medical emergencies.
• Monitor and respond promptly to patient communications, including telephone encounters, patient portal messages, and provider in-basket requests.
• Enter medication, laboratory, radiology, referral, and refill orders for provider review and sign-off.
• Provide discharge instructions and patient education as directed by the provider.
• Collect, process, and prepare laboratory specimens.
• Perform CLIA-waived laboratory testing.
• Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs), respiratory testing, phlebotomy (venipuncture and capillary puncture), and other diagnostic testing as needed.
• Schedule appointments, outpatient procedures, referrals, and coordinate patient care.
• Obtain insurance pre-authorizations and apply managed care guidelines.
• Serve as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers to resolve questions or concerns.
• Participate in Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement initiatives.
• Maintain examination and treatment rooms, including cleaning rooms between patients and managing inventory of supplies and equipment.

Licensed Practical Nurse Requirement

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program without externship and at least one (1) year of recent clinical medical assisting experience 
• Current nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification with a minimum of five
• (5) years of clinical medical assisting experience.
