Medical Assistant

Location: Boston, MA

Duration: 3 month contract

Pay rate range: $24.34/hour

Job duties for this position include:

• Provides efficient patient flow to optimize appointment availability.
• Greets and escorts patients; measures vital signs (BP, pulse, weight, height).
• Assists clinicians with routine procedures and tests.
• Advises patients of department specific prep/testing.
• Ensures EMR is updated, including recent tests and consults.
• Keeps patients informed of visit status and delays.
• Follows meaningful use guidelines: updates demographics, meds, allergies, chief complaints, reconciles meds, manages refills.
• Assists with MyHealth Online enrollment.
• Helps resolve minor patient concerns.
• Performs waived point of care testing (e.g., strep, urine, hCG, glucose); follows QC procedures and documents in EMR
• Places lab and imaging orders under clinical direction
• Prepares, cleans, and maintains exam rooms/equipment
• Answers backline calls and assists with internal problem resolution
• Helps with scheduling referrals, followups, and previsit labs
• Assists with orienting new staff; provides backup coverage
• Participates in improvement activities (RIEs, VSAs, MDIs)
• May manage clinician mail and MyHealth messages
• May generate clinical correspondence (e.g., medical necessity letters)
• May order supplies and maintain stock room
• May function as a Medical Secretary I when needed
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Experience with EPIC
• Type of certification required: High School Diploma
