Overview Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate for the Child Health Institute of NJ at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. The position focuses on studying novel EphB1/2 tyrosine kinase inhibitors as candidate therapeutics for neuropathic pain and involves behavioral and pharmacological evaluation of novel compounds in multiple preclinical models. Posting Summary The Postdoctoral Associate will work under the direction of the principal investigator to define the behavioral effects, potency, pharmacological profile, and molecular correlates of next‑generation EphB1/2 inhibitors across mouse models of neuropathic pain, and will contribute to manuscript preparation and presentations at scientific conferences. The role provides structured mentoring in experimental design, rigor, reproducibility, data interpretation, and scientific communication within a collaborative, multi‑site research environment. Key Responsibilities Participate in experimental design and conduct experiments using mouse and human brain material, cultured cells, high‑resolution fluorescence imaging, image analysis, biochemical, and molecular biology approaches. Operate and maintain experimental equipment; assist in writing protocols for IACUC. Record, quantify, and analyze data from experiments and maintain a data notebook per department standards. Contribute to the intellectual development of the project. Lead or co‑lead manuscripts and present findings at local, national, and international conferences. Minimum Education and Experience PhD in Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Cell Biology, or a related field. Strong background in neurobehavioral approaches for pain‑related behavioral testing and tissue isolation in mouse brain and spinal cord. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience with human cells or postmortem tissue samples.
