Senior Accountant

DATE: July 2026 DEPARTMENT: Finance DIVISION : Finance ACCOUNTABLE TO: Controller Fulltime, Exempt position Starting Salary - $85,000 - $90,000 depending on qualifications The Job The Senior Accountant is primarily responsible for managing the monthly, quarterly, and yearly close process, and maintaining and ensuring that the general ledger is positioned to allow for accurate financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders. In this role, you will... Manage the monthly/yearly close process and maintain the GL to ensure all internal and external reports are accurate Monitor and analyze monthly reconciliation of all B/S accounts resolving and correcting errors in a timely manner Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual JE as required for month end close and audit Serve as backup to the Controller in managing financial operations Assist Head of Budget & Financial Planning in management of restricted funds and grants Serve as software- liaison with IS department and software vendors Assist in design of management reports using accounting system with input from Controller and Head of Budget Train general accounting staff in accounting systems Prepare audit workpapers and assist with 990 and associated tax returns Maintain and manage reconciliation of fundraising activity (Salesforce to NetSuite) Coordinate and assist with periodic internal Works Of Art (WOA) inventory testing and annual WOA audit testing Review and manage monthly AP activity (PO closeouts, exp reimbursement, etc.) To be successful in this role… You are patient and open-minded with positive and effective verbal and written communication skills. A. or B.S. in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience. 5 or more years of accounting experience. Not for profit experience a plus. Strong computer skills with proficiency in Word and Excel; advanced Excel skills including v-lookups and pivot tables. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work responsibly with confidential information. Proficiency with cloud-based accounting software and other accounting applications.
