Job Description and Duties

Metropolitan State Hospital is located in Norwalk, Los Angeles County.

The Department of State Hospitals – Metropolitan, Program 3, is accepting applications for the Office Technician (Typing), Permanent/Full Time position.

Under the direction of the Program Director or Designee, the Office Technician (Typing) performs a variety of general office and clerical work in support of the Hospital's Vision, Mission, Goals, and Values. The Office Technician (Typing) is expected to consistently exercise a high degree of self-initiative and independence when performing assigned tasks. Assigned duties are primarily performed in the Program Office, units, nursing stations, and conference rooms.

Interested candidates with computer skills, excellent attendance, and punctuality are highly desired. 

Special Requirement : Ability to type at a speed of not less than 40 words per minute from ordinary manuscript or printed or typewritten material.

• Other - Typing Certificate - Typing certification must be 5 minutes in length and proctored either virtually or in person. State departments will honor typing certificates issued within the last four years, and certified from a five (5) minute typing test that meets the CalHR requirements , with a minimum of 40 WPM (words per minute).
