Job Title: Machine Builder
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Pay: $28-35/hr
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Machine Builder to assemble, install, and troubleshoot custom machinery and automation equipment. This role is ideal for individuals with strong mechanical aptitude who enjoy hands-on work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble custom machines, equipment, and subassemblies according to blueprints and engineering drawings
- Interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and bills of materials (BOMs)
- Install mechanical components including bearings, conveyors, pneumatics, and structural frames
- Perform alignment, fitting, and adjustments to ensure proper machine function
- Assist with machine testing, troubleshooting, and final runoffs
- Work closely with engineering and controls teams during builds and modifications
- Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments safely and effectively
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
Qualifications
- 2+ years of machine building, mechanical assembly, or related experience
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, and/or automation equipment preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with custom automation or special-purpose machinery
- Basic electrical knowledge (wiring, sensors, etc.)
- Familiarity with precision measuring tools
