Director Of Contract Management (CONTRACT ADM 5)

Reporting directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC), the Director of Contract Management is responsible for structuring and administrating contractual documents that establish business relationships with contractors, design professionals and consultants. The incumbent collaborates with UCOP, UC Legal and campus partners to ensure professional contracting services are provided in compliance with all applicable laws, policies and procedures. The Director advises management on contractual rights and obligations, interprets terms and conditions, and provides strategic direction for the development of new contract options. The role works collaboratively with DCM staff and client departments across campus, and interfaces with unit management to communicate unit‑wide and campus contract initiatives, resolve issues, foster integrated collaborations among units and oversee contract practices. The Director serves as a primary liaison with UC Legal on contract matters related to state bidding law, bid protests communication and evaluations, and is responsible for lead contract functions within a highly reliable and collaborative organization with a strong focus on customer service, innovation and stewardship. Minimum 5 years of experience in contracts and 5 years of experience supervising staff. Advanced knowledge of California construction contract law and competitive bid policies, procedures, and regulations. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to develop short‑term and long‑term plans and supervise staff to meet operational goals. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of UC contracts and agreements. Advanced skills for negotiation, resolution and political acumen. Analytical and critical thinking skills to anticipate, identify and communicate issues effectively. Experience developing training programs, including creating procedures and materials.
