Vice President of Finance (CFO Successor)

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer

Compensation: Executive Base Salary + Annual Bonus + Long-Term Incentive Opportunity

As part of its long-term succession strategy, the organization is seeking a Vice President of Finance who will work alongside the CFO and executive leadership team before transitioning into the Chief Financial Officer position .

Position Summary

The Vice President of Finance serves as the executive finance leader supporting the CFO across all financial and strategic initiatives while leading the day-to-day financial operations of the organization.

This executive will oversee financial planning, accounting operations, project financial performance, treasury, forecasting, acquisitions, strategic planning, budgeting, and executive decision support while helping position the organization for the next 15 years of growth .

The ideal candidate combines strong construction accounting expertise with executive leadership capabilities and possesses the vision to ultimately assume the role of Chief Financial Officer.

Primary Responsibilities

Executive Financial Leadership

• Partner with the CFO on enterprise-wide financial strategy and execution
• Lead day-to-day finance operations across four legal entities
• Assist with Board and Executive leadership presentations
• Drive strategic initiatives supporting long-term growth objectives
• Participate in executive planning sessions focused on 5-, 10-, and 15-year business strategy
• Provide financial leadership for major capital investments and expansion opportunities

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

• Lead company-wide budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
• Develop rolling forecasts and long-range financial plans
• Analyze profitability by division, project, region, and business line
• Build executive dashboards and KPI reporting
• Support strategic business decisions through financial analysis

Construction Finance & Operations

• Oversee:
• Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting
• Percentage-of-Completion Accounting
• Cost Accounting
• Job Costing
• Project Financial Reporting
• Revenue Recognition
• Contract Analysis
• Project Margin Review
• Partner with Operations leadership to improve project profitability and financial visibility
• Review project budgets, change orders, backlog reporting, and contract performance

Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
• Maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies
• Lead audit preparation and external auditor relationships
• Ensure timely and accurate financial statements across all entities

Treasury & Cash Management

• Support treasury management and liquidity planning
• Manage banking relationships and cash forecasting
• Oversee working capital optimization
• Monitor capital allocation strategies

Mergers & Acquisitions

• Support acquisition strategy and due diligence activities
• Participate in financial modeling and valuation analysis
• Lead financial integration planning for acquisitions
• Evaluate strategic investment opportunities

Strategic Leadership

• Collaborate with CEO, CFO, COO, and executive leadership
• Provide financial guidance for enterprise-wide initiatives
• Develop financial strategies supporting sustainable long-term growth
• Assist in organizational planning and executive decision-making

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required
• CPA strongly preferred
• MBA highly desirable
• 15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience
• Executive finance leadership within construction, engineering, industrial contracting, or project-based environments
• Experience leading large finance teams and developing future leaders
