Medical Lab Scientist / Med Tech for Point of Care Testing

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position, with potential for extension to 26 weeks if desired.

Schedule

7 on / 7 off, Day Shift: 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM

Job Description

The Medical Lab Scientist / Med Tech will be responsible for performing point of care testing and supporting laboratory operations in the emergency room setting. The role includes clerical duties as assigned by nursing and lab management. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in laboratory maintenance and patient testing, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance, quality control, and calibration on analyzers.
• Conduct patient testing, including waived and non-waived tests.
• Process specimens, order tests, and prepare samples for transport as needed.
• Maintain laboratory supplies and perform routine cleaning of lab surfaces.
• Communicate effectively with clinical staff in the emergency department.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Certified Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) or Medical Lab Technician (MLT) through ASCP or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of experience in a hospital laboratory environment.
• Experience with EPIC and relevant analyzers preferred.
