Overview Rimkus is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Digital Forensic Examiner to conduct thorough and legally sound investigations of digital media. The Digital Forensic Examiner will be responsible for the acquisition, preservation, analysis, and reporting on digital evidence matters. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of digital forensics principles, methodologies, and tools, along with excellent analytical and communication skills. Essential Job Functions Perform forensic examinations of mobile devices (smartphones and tablets) running iOS and Android operating systems Conduct extractions of data from mobile devices using industry-standard hardware and software (e.g., Cellebrite, Magnet AXIOM) Employ techniques to bypass or overcome device security features (where legally permissible and ethical) to access data Perform data recovery from damaged, locked, or malfunctioning mobile devices Analyze mobile device data, including but not limited to: call logs, SMS/MMS messages, contacts, photos, videos, email, application data, web history, location data, and social media activity Conduct SIM card and SD card analysis Document all findings, methodologies, and chain of custody in clear and concise reports Present technical findings related to mobile device evidence to both technical and non-technical audiences Maintain a strong understanding of current mobile forensic trends, tools, and techniques, as well as mobile operating system updates and security features Adhere to established forensic procedures, legal guidelines, and ethical standards related to mobile device evidence Collaborate effectively with other team members on investigations involving mobile devices Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for cases as needed Required Education and Certifications Bachelor's degree is preferable but not required. Experience in Law Enforcement, Information Technology, or a related field.
