Coach - Cross Country Track, Middle School Bellingham Public Schools – Bellingham Memorial School 6/7, Bellingham, Massachusetts Title: Cross Country Track, Head Coach – BMS Job ID: 5787546 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Starting Date: To Be Determined Position Type: Stipend Salary: $2,470 to $2,795 Stipend Job Description Plan, direct and supervise all phases of the total Cross Country Track Program in accordance with the MIAA, Tri-Valley League, Athletic Department and School policies. Oversee the physiological and skill development of student‑athletes in the program. Develop each student participant to maximum potential in a program of skill, learning and improvements. Directly report to the Athletic Director, in liaison with the High School Principal. Responsible for organizing, coaching and administering the total Cross Country Track Program. Follow the policies and procedures in the Athletic Department Staff Handbook. Adhere to the adopted policies of the Bellingham School Committee. Follow sound coaching practices in teaching all skills, including aspects of health and safety. Assume responsibility for equipment inventory. Enforce disciplined and sportsmanlike behavior. Promote and encourage maximum student participation and behavior. Assist in planning inter‑school scrimmages and non‑league games. Provide leadership and guidance to the Assistant Coach. Oversee the safety conditions of the facility or assigned area including the locker rooms. Promote public relations through the news media and within the community. Promote the student‑athlete in the search for college scholarships. Develop a scouting system during the season to provide maximum information for viable game plans. Develop game plans which are flexible and adaptable to changing game strategies. Assume responsibility for the end‑of‑season report, which includes a summary of season, records and scores of all levels, award winners, MVP and all stars, and recommendations for program improvements. Qualifications Dedication to the School, to the Student‑Athlete and to the Athletic Program. Comprehensive knowledge of the sport and the ability to demonstrate and teach individual skills. Ability to motivate the student‑athlete to maximum potential. Professional in appearance and actions. Prior experience as a Cross Country Head Coach preferred. Certification CPR, First Aid or the equivalent preferred. Employment as a member of the teaching staff preferred. Job Requirements Citizenship, residency or work visa required. Additional Information NOTE: This position is expected to be filled by 2024. The appointment is subject to sufficient participation to appropriately support this coaching position.
