New Graduate RN Residency, Adult Emergency Department (Start Date: Sep 2026)

Position Overview Start your nursing career at Boston Medical Center (BMC) in the Adult Emergency Department – the busiest Level 1 Trauma Center in New England. The New Graduate RN Residency is a cohort-based program that provides a 24‑week, structured orientation and hands‑on clinical experience designed to integrate nursing theory with bedside practice. Schedule Full‑time, 36hours per week on 12‑hour shifts. Shifts include weekdays, weekends, and holidays. After orientation, the schedule will be assigned; participants may work night shifts, every third weekend, and alternate holidays. Responsibilities The role includes nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and coordination of care for patients and families across the continuum of care. The RN will collaborate with preceptors, clinical nurse educators, and the Nurse Manager, and will be accountable for clinical, educational, quality, and fiscal patient care outcomes in accordance with BMC policies and the American Nurses Association Standards. Residency Program ENA education modules Precepted clinical orientation shifts Telemetry, Class IV, and ED‑specific clinical classes TNCC certification ACLS certification Qualifications Education & Experience Graduation from an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program within 12months before hire. If an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) graduate, enrollment in a BSN program by the end of the first year of employment and completion within the fourth year of employment at BMC. Emergency Technician experience or ED nursing practicum at a Level 1 Trauma Center strongly preferred. BLS required. Knowledge & Skills Basic computer proficiency to access, enter, and interpret electronic data. Effective interpersonal skills for communication with the healthcare team, patients, and families. Organizational skills to prioritize and efficiently complete assigned work. Analytical ability and critical thinking to solve clinical nursing issues and conduct quality improvement projects. Multilingual skills beyond English are preferred given patient populations. Compensation and Benefits Base pay ranges from $38.05 to $75.33 per hour, based on qualifications.
