Programs Director

Position Overview The Director of Programs provides strategic leadership and oversight of Foundation for Women Warriors’ programs supporting women veterans and their families. This position ensures high-quality, client-centered services across emergency and transition assistance, childcare support, financial wellness, professional development, and resource navigation. The Director leads program staff, manages program operations and budgets, ensures data integrity, evaluates program outcomes, and develops partnerships that strengthen FFWW’s impact. The ideal candidate is an experienced nonprofit or human services leader who combines strong people management, sound judgment, financial acumen, and a commitment to serving women veterans. Key Responsibilities Program Leadership & Operations Provide strategic direction and day-to-day oversight of FFWW programs and services. Oversee the full program cycle, including outreach, intake, eligibility, assessment, intervention, referrals, follow-up, and evaluation. Develop, implement, and continuously improve program policies, procedures, workflows, and quality standards. Ensure services are veteran centered, culturally responsive, resilience oriented, and delivered with professionalism and confidentiality. Monitor program budgets, financial assistance, childcare funds, and other program resources to ensure responsible and complaints use. Identify emerging client needs, service gaps, and opportunities for program growth and improvement. Lead, supervise, coach, and develop program staff while promoting accountability, collaboration, and high-quality service. Establish performance expectations and provide ongoing training, feedback, and professional development. Support staff in navigating complex or sensitive client situations and determining appropriate program interventions. Data & Impact Ensure accurate and timely documentation within client management systems. Monitor key performance indicators, program outcomes, financial assistance, referrals, and other impact metrics. Conduct internal file and data quality reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance. Prepare program, statistical, and veteran impact statements for leadership, funders, and other stakeholders. Support grant reporting, audits, program budgeting, and funding requirements. Partnerships & Community Engagement Build and maintain relationships with veteran serving organizations, government agencies, community partners, and other stakeholders. Strengthen referral networks and identify resources that expand support available to women veterans and their families. Represent FFWW at community meetings, events, presentations, and other public-facing opportunities. Support the growth of community and resources that advance FFWW programs and activities. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Nonprofit Management, Business/Public Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Experience/Skills: 7+ years of progressively responsible program or human services experience, including 3+ years supervising staff. Demonstrated experience managing nonprofit, human services, financial assistance, or community-based programs. Experience working with veterans, military-connected communities, or economically vulnerable populations strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams, manage competing priorities, and hold staff accountable for results. Excellent communication, relationship-building, conflict-resolution, and decision-making skills. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters with professionalism, sound judgment, and emotional intelligence. Proficiency with CRM/client management and project management systems such as Apricot, Collaborate, Monday.com, and Microsoft Office Suite . Valid California driver’s license and ability to travel locally as needed. Strong commitment to FFWW’s mission of enhancing the economic and overall well-being of women veterans and their families. Full-time position with occasional evening, weekend, and travel requirements.
