Senior Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead the preparation of accurate, competitive, and commercially sound estimates for a varied portfolio of projects. Working closely with project managers, commercial teams, designers, suppliers, and clients, you will play a key role in shaping successful tenders from initial enquiry through to submission. This position would suit a detail-focused professional with strong technical knowledge, sound commercial judgement, and the confidence to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.


Your responsibilities will include reviewing drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and contract documents; identifying project requirements, risks, exclusions, and opportunities; preparing detailed cost plans, bills of quantities, and tender submissions; and obtaining and evaluating quotations from subcontractors and suppliers. You will maintain estimating databases, analyse historical costs and market trends, contribute to value-engineering proposals, and ensure all pricing is supported by clear assumptions and accurate documentation. You will also attend site visits, tender meetings, and clarification sessions, while presenting estimates and recommendations to senior stakeholders.


Applicants should have substantial estimating experience within construction, engineering, infrastructure, or a related sector, together with a strong understanding of procurement, subcontractor engagement, contract conditions, and cost control. The ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications, use estimating and spreadsheet software, and produce clear commercial reports is essential. You will be highly organised, analytical, and confident negotiating with suppliers and communicating with internal and external stakeholders. A relevant technical, commercial, or construction-related qualification is desirable, as is experience mentoring junior estimators and contributing to process improvements.
