Production Manager, Live Sports Production

Come be a part of Amazon's Live Sports Production team. We are looking for an experienced Production Manager who operates at the intersection of traditional live sports broadcast production management and operations and the tech-forward, build-as-you-go environment of a global streaming platform. This role requires the field operations muscle of someone who has managed remote broadcast compounds, coordinated venue logistics, and staffed large-scale live events, paired with the builder mindset of someone who designs SOPs, dashboards and creates scalable processes in an environment where the infrastructure is still being built.As a Production Manager, you are the operational engine across your assigned sports properties, working in lockstep with Sr. Production Ops Managers, Coordinating Producers, Technical Operations, and Production Finance to ensure every event is launch-ready and on budget. You will use your production management and field operations experience to drive new property launches and year-over-year sports property restarts. You will own event-level logistics, crewing, travel, vendor coordination, budgeting, and production communications. While much of the day-to-day execution (crewing, travel, payroll) runs through third-party Production Service Partners (PSPs), you own the outcomes and are accountable for meeting our standards. As the business evolves, you will help evaluate where functions should scale in-house versus remain with external partners.This is an individual contributor role, but it carries a mentorship expectation. You are responsible for onboarding, training, and elevating freelancers, contractors, and production partner personnel to meet Amazon's production standards. The successful candidate builds rather than inherits, and takes ownership of the full operational picture, not just their assigned tasks.Key job responsibilities• Venue, Compound, and On-Site Logistics: Manage total on-site remote compound operations, serving as Amazon's boots-on-the-ground operational representative. Coordinate compound security, catering, venue and arena access, and credential submissions, working directly with leagues, teams, and venue contacts to ensure all production staff and talent are cleared in advance of air. Oversee shipping, equipment logistics, transportation, and emergency action plans. Operate on a schedule driven by the live sports calendar, which requires flexibility and extended stretches during peak seasons. • Travel and Crew Administration: Own the end-to-end travel and accommodation process for production personnel and talent, including hotels, ground transportation, and travel and expense management. Coordinate travel logistics across overlapping production schedules, ensuring crew and talent are deployed efficiently and without conflict. • Above-The-Line (ATL) and Below-The-Line (BTL) Staffing: Source, onboard, and evaluate local and freelance production support roles through 3P crewing providers, ensuring crew meets Amazon's production requirements and events are fully staffed across all positions across in-game and shoulder programming. Serve as the bridge between internal teams (Production Operations, Technical Operations, Editorial/Creative) and 3P crewing providers to align crew complement with show scope and budget. • Show Budgeting and Billing: Own event-level operational budgets alongside Sr. Production Ops leads, Sr. Coordinating Producers, and Production Finance. Track expenses across vendor, freelance, and production cost categories. Process and approve invoices, review timecards, and reconcile cost reports. Flag variances and find tradeoffs when costs trend over budget.• Production Memos and Communications: Publish production memos and dashboards detailing operational schedules, logistical event or show details, and emergency protocols across technical and production teams. Create and distribute production books, call sheets, and daily schedules, working with production counterparts to ensure each event is accurate. Maintain property dashboards with launch readiness and season information, ensuring all stakeholders have current operational visibility.• Launch Readiness and Property Planning: Operationalize new property launches and year-over-year season restarts by building workback timelines, coordinating site surveys with Technical Operations and venue contacts, and setting up the tools and mechanisms required for operational execution (dashboards, tracking documents, distribution lists). Own the production management launch readiness roadmap for assigned properties, escalating risks when timelines are at jeopardy. • Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate across Editorial/Creative, Technical Operations, Talent, Programming, Business Development, Legal, and Production Finance to ensure operational alignment. Work with internal partner teams and PSPs on production safety, security, insurance, and planning needs. Support league and venue relationships as the operational point of contact.• Vendor and PSP Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison with 3P Production Service Providers and crewing vendors, ensuring the hiring, scheduling, and deployment of crew meets Amazon's production standards. Establish clear roles and responsibilities with vendor counterparts. Review production service agreements and statements of work to validate contractual terms, ensuring deliverables and billing align with operational requirements.About the teamThe Production Operations team is responsible for delivering high-quality event and studio productions on all global live sports properties to Prime Video customers worldwide. We drive production excellence through purpose-built processes and scalable operational frameworks that empower the team to work more efficiently and grow with increasing demand.Basic qualifications- 3+ years of budgeting, scheduling and cost reporting experience- 3+ years of producer, production manager or line producer experience- 3+ years of overseeing and managing projects and deadlines experience- 5+ years of editing/writing in long form audio, long form magazine, or television/film experience- 5+ years in live sports production management or event operations, with hands-on remote and event production experience including compound and venue management. Has coordinated crewing and staffing through 3P vendors, including Above-The-Line and Below-The-Line personnel, across large-scale live broadcasts. Has managed event-level budgets including expense tracking, invoice reconciliation, and cost reporting. Knowledge of broadcast industry rates, crew structures, and market rules across domestic production environments. Has worked with production service providers and managed vendor relationships in a live production environment. Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent productions under tight deadlines.Preferred qualification - Experience with a variety of digital media workflows and post production- Experience working directly with artists, songwriters, or other creative professionals- Experience in a streaming or non-traditional broadcast production environment. Experience with production scheduling or workforce management platforms. Experience with union and non-union crew engagement across multiple production formats.
