It was acquired by a PE-backed home services platform and now sits inside a network of two dozen branches being professionalized for the next stage of growth. The brand is real. The customer base is loyal. What the branch doesn't have is a GM who can protect both while bringing operations up to platform standard. That changes with this hire. The Role You own the full P&L for a single-market residential HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and indoor air quality branch in Virginia. Revenue, margin, EBITDA, retention, customer experience: all yours. You report to the Regional Vice President and operate as the day-to-day leader of this business. What you're actually being trusted with A legacy brand that customers have relied on for decades. Some have been with this company for 40+ years. You don't get to break that while you build what comes next A team that was built before the platform existed. Earning trust here matters more than issuing mandates The financial performance of the branch: not just service delivery, but labor cost management, budgeting, marketing and lead-gen economics, and understanding what drives every dollar through the door Turning a well-loved local business into one that also runs like a business: consistent processes, measurable KPIs, and a team that's coached into accountability rather than managed through obligation The GMs who do this well inside PE-backed platforms leave with a specific track record: standalone P&L ownership, brand-level operational turnaround, and people development in a real accountability environment. That opens multi-site and regional leadership roles. It is a deliberate next step, not a lateral. What the Role Requires Home services, HVAC, plumbing, or electrical operating experience. You've run a branch or a business unit, not just managed a department within one Full P&L ownership you can speak to in detail: what the numbers were, what you changed, and what moved as a result A track record of building and developing teams, not just inheriting them. You've recruited, coached, and retained people in a competitive trades market Financial acumen that goes beyond reading a report: you understand labor cost as a percentage of revenue, you know how marketing spend converts to jobs, and you manage headcount with the margin in mind The ability to lead a long-tenured team through change without losing trust. This is a people-first organization and the team predates the platform 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in a service organization What This Role Is Not For A title upgrade without operational depth. If you haven't owned a P&L with real consequences, this will surface fast Leaders who default to authority over influence. This team has been here for years. Respect is earned, not inherited with the role Candidates who need everything built and resourced before they can perform. Some processes are still being standardized.
