Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

The neurosurgical unit provides exceptional opportunities for dedicated nursing professionals to care for a diverse patient population. Join a multidisciplinary team specializing in brain tumors, spinal malformations, neuroendovascular procedures, and epilepsy surgery. This unit features both a general floor-level section and an 8-bed high-acuity step-down area for patients requiring hemodynamic and neurological monitoring.

Responsibilities

Administer comprehensive care to patients undergoing neurosurgical interventions.
Monitor patient vital signs and conduct neuro checks with regular frequency.
Provide care for patients with complex needs, including those with EVDs, lumbar drains, and subdural drains.
Manage IV infusions such as 3% NS and Cardene drips.
Assist in various procedures including carotid endarterectomy, aneurysm coiling/clipping, DBS insertion, and VP shunt management.
Implement seizure management protocols and provide education for patients and families.

Qualifications

Must have step-down or progressive care unit experience.
Valid NY RN License is required.
Minimum of two (2) years of relevant nursing experience in high acuity stroke and neurosurgery.
Telemetry experience is necessary.
BLS certification is required; ACLS certification is preferred.
NIHSS certification is required.

Work Schedule

This position may require rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, with a commitment to 36 or 48 hours per week as needed.
