Administrative Assistant Bookkeeper

LHH is currently partnering with a client in Oak Brook that is seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper to join their team on a direct hire basis. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing accounting responsibilities with administrative support while working in a collaborative, customer-focused environment. The right candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities throughout the day.
Position Details
- Location: Oak Brook, IL

- Salary: $55,000-$57,000
- Worksite: Fully Onsite
- Target Start Date: ASAP
- Manage day-to-day accounts payable activities, including invoice review, coding, approval tracking, and payment processing
- Process vendor payments through check, ACH, wire, and credit card transactions
- Research and resolve invoice discrepancies while maintaining strong vendor relationships
- Reconcile vendor statements and ensure timely payment of outstanding balances
- Assist with accounts receivable functions, including invoicing, payment application, and collections support
- Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger documentation
- Prepare journal entries and perform monthly account reconciliations
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and cash activity
- Generate financial reports and assist with budget tracking
- Monitor office and supply inventory and coordinate vendor orders as needed
- Answer incoming calls, assist visitors, and provide exceptional customer service
- Support various administrative projects and operational initiatives
Qualifications
- 3+ years of bookkeeping, accounting, or full-cycle AP experience
- Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, account reconciliations, and financial recordkeeping
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Customer-service mindset with a professional and friendly demeanor
- Ability to multitask, prioritize competing deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
