General Production WorkerThe General Production Worker supports machine operators in a metal fabrication shop by assisting with the operation of various fabricating machines, handling metal workpieces, and preparing finished products for shipment. This role helps ensure that metal sheets are accurately cut, shaped, and bent according to specifications while maintaining a safe and efficient production environment.ResponsibilitiesAssist machine operators in tending fabricating machines such as cutoff saws, shears, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, and folding machines that cut, shape, and bend metal sheets.Position workpieces against stops or align layout marks with dies or blades to ensure accurate cutting, shaping, and bending.Support machine operation by monitoring workpieces to detect defects and identifying signs of machine malfunction.Help measure workpiece dimensions to verify accuracy and confirm that machine operations meet required specifications.Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from workpieces to ensure product quality and safe handling.Perform minor machine maintenance tasks such as oiling machines, dies, or workpieces under guidance.Assist machine operators with machine setup, including preparing materials and organizing workpieces for processing.Stack, mark, pack, and transport finished workpieces to the shipping area in an organized and efficient manner.Build crates and skids needed to pack finished products securely for shipping.Maintain a clean and orderly work area to support safety and productivity in the metal shop.Essential SkillsExperience in production, general labor, or general production work in a manufacturing or industrial environment.Ability to assist with machine operation, including working with cutoff saws, shears, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, and folding machines.Basic understanding of working with metal materials in a shop or production setting.Ability to measure workpiece dimensions accurately and follow layout marks, stops, and alignment instructions.Capability to identify visible workpiece defects and recognize potential machine malfunctions.Skill in safely removing burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from metal workpieces.Capacity to perform minor maintenance tasks such as oiling machines, dies, or workpieces.Physical ability to stack, pack, and transport finished workpieces and build crates and skids for shipping.One to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrior experience in assembly or general production roles is beneficial.Experience in general labor within a metal shop or manufacturing environment is an advantage.Comfort working around industrial machinery and tools in a production setting.Willingness to learn machine setup procedures and follow established safety and operating guidelines.Ability to work collaboratively with machine operators and other production team members.Why Work Here?You join a hands-on, team-oriented production environment where learning on the job and growing your skills is encouraged. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
