Job Description & Requirements

• Assume responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame.
• Utilize nursing process, trends, technology, and resources within the philosophy of the institution.
• Perform all responsibilities and duties required by the unit specific to the scope of service.
• Implement procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure integration of information for use by the healthcare team.
• Complete initial assessment upon patient admission and develop an appropriate plan of care based on patient and family needs.
• Implement plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures.
• Modify plan of care based on continuous evaluation.
• Take responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents.
• Communicate with others directly and privately when necessary to resolve issues.
• Offer constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers.
• Confer with colleagues to expand knowledge base.
• Identify own learning needs and take initiative to address them.
• Fulfill all requirements of departmental competencies.

Department-Specific Functions:

• Implement procedures and theories specific to ED nursing.
• Perform patient assessment and develop care plan in collaboration with providers, family, and patient.
• Execute plan of care and nursing interventions.
• Modify care plan based on continuous assessment.
• Ensure patient and staff safety through appropriate nursing interventions and adherence to safety standards.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with staff, visitors, and families to promote a healthy and healing work environment.
• Provide feedback to peers to aid in professional development and problem-solving.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records/documentation.
