As an After-School Program Coordinator, you will contribute to a positive and enriching learning environment for elementary-aged children. In this role, you will lead engaging activities, ensure student safety and well-being, and foster meaningful partnerships with students, families, and staff to promote a strong sense of community.

What We Will Achieve TogetherThe After-School Program Coordinator is responsible for the supervision, safety, and development of children ages 5–810in an after-school setting. This role ensures compliance with Massachusetts EEC licensing regulations while providing a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.
What you'll doChild Supervision & Safety
Maintain active supervision of children at all times in accordance with EEC ratios and guidelines
Ensure a safe, clean, and organized classroom and program environment
Conduct regular headcounts and transitions safely (including arrivals from school and dismissals)
Follow all health, safety, and emergency procedures (including injury reporting and emergency drills)
Administer basic first aid and respond appropriately to incidents
Program Implementation
Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities aligned with school-age best practices, including:
Homework support / quiet study time
Creative arts and enrichment
Physical activity and outdoor play
Social skill development activities
Snack preparation and cleanup
Indoor and outdoor recreation
Set up and cleanup of program spaces
Support a balanced daily schedule that includes structured and choice-based activities
Adapt activities to meet diverse developmental levels and individual needs
Promote positive behavior using guidance strategies consistent with EEC regulations (no punitive discipline)
Child Development & Relationships
Build positive, respectful relationships with children
Support children’s independence, confidence, and peer interactions
Recognize and respond to individual needs, including social-emotional development
Maintain awareness of children with special needs, allergies, or individualized plans
Family Communication
Communicate professionally with families during pick-up and as needed
Share information about children’s progress, behavior, and daily experiences
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with EEC regulations
Transportation & Transitions (if applicable)
Safely receive children from public school transportation or assist in pick-up procedures
Ensure accurate attendance tracking during all transitions
Maintain communication with school partners if needed
Documentation & Compliance
Complete required documentation, including:
Attendance records
Incident/accident reports
Behavior or developmental observations (as needed)
Ensure compliance with all EEC licensing regulations (102 CMR 7.00)
Participate in required trainings, including:
First Aid/CPR
Mandated Reporter training
Professional development hours
Team Collaboration
Work collaboratively with other teachers and site leadership
Participate in staff meetings and program planning
Support overall program operations, including snack setup/cleanup and classroom maintenance
Minimum Requirements (per EEC for School-Age Teacher):
Meet EEC Teacher qualifications for school-age programs, such as:
High school diploma or equivalent and
Relevant experience working with school-age children
OR coursework in early childhood education, child development, or a related field
Ability to pass CORI, SORI, and DCF background checks
Current First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
Preferred Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of child development (ages 5–8)
Ability to manage groups of children safely and effectively
Positive classroom management and behavior guidance skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organization and multitasking abilities
Work Environment

Physical Requirements
The After-School Program Coordinator role requires active involvement in both administrative and classroom environments. To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the following physical abilities are required:
Ability to move throughout the school for prolonged periods, including standing and walking for up to 75 percent of the workday.
Ability to transition between sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, and squatting throughout the day to engage with children and support staff.
Ability to safely lift, carry, and move items up to 30 pounds, including classroom materials, supplies, and occasional assistance with children’s belongings.
Ability to sit on the floor, engage at a child’s eye level, and participate in age-appropriate activities including light running, outdoor play supervision, and interactive learning experiences.
Comfort working in a dynamic, sometimes noisy environment with frequent interruptions and regular movement between indoor and outdoor spaces.
Ability to supervise children on playgrounds, in classrooms, hallways, entryways, and common areas.
Ability to respond quickly and safely in emergency situations, including evacuations, drills, and urgent classroom needs.
Ability to follow and model all safety procedures.

Compliance Statement
This position requires strict adherence to all Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) licensing regulations for Group and School Age Child Care Programs (102 CMR 7.00), as well as company policies and procedures.
All employees must complete a background check as required by the Department of Early Education and Care.
Salary Range & Description
Salary Range: $25.00-$27.00 per hour for EEC Qualified Candidates.
The compensation range represents Little Sprouts' intention for this position. Actual offers may vary based on experience, education, and other business factors.
