About the Position

Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit / Cardiac Stepdown RN – Ohio

Start Date: October 19, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), 36 hours per week. Every other weekend required. Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed.

Highlights:

• 24-bed unit with 9 progressive care beds and 15 medical-surgical beds, specializing in cardiac stepdown care
• Patient ratios of 1:3-5, allowing for focused, quality patient care
• Work with a diverse cardiac patient population including chest pain, heart failure, EKG changes, and pulmonary embolism
• Epic EMR system with 24 hours of orientation provided
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
• 9 PCU rooms equipped with bedside monitors for advanced cardiac monitoring

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Valid Ohio RN license or compact state license in hand at time of submission
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, IV starts, and intermediate care preferred
• Proficiency with IV insulin drips preferred
• Skills: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry, peripheral line care, oxygen administration, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions, and rapid response/code team protocols
• Nursing degree from ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Two professional references required (at least one from manager/director or formal supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference)
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
