About the Position

Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse – Ohio

Start Date: October 19, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Night shift, 36 hours per week, every other weekend required. Float coverage within facility network required. 36-hour orientation provided.

Highlights:

• Progressive Care Unit with mixed acuity levels serving adult patients with various medical diagnoses and pre/post-surgical care
• Daily census of 25-32 patients across 32 rooms with comprehensive telemetry monitoring on the unit
• Epic charting system with robust interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and physical therapy
• First-time travelers welcome; candidates with 1 year of experience will be individually reviewed by management
• 13-week assignment with opportunity to work in a major academic medical environment
• Extensive clinical skill set including cardiac drips, arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and titration of insulin drips

Requirements:

• Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
• Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit, Step-Down, IMC, or DOU experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Graduation from ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Two professional references required: one from manager/director/supervisor, second may be from Charge RN
• Ohio fingerprinting must be completed immediately upon contract signing

Essential Skills:

• Cardiac telemetry and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Central line and PICC line management, accessing/managing ports
• Management of cardiac drips without titration; titration of insulin drips
• Arterial line management and blood product administration
• BiPAP/CPAP and high flow nasal cannula management
• Chest tube management, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac
• IV insertion and maintenance, PCA pumps, heparin and insulin protocols
• Continuous bladder irrigation and feeding tube management

Compliance: Strict compliance deadline of Tuesday prior to start date. Ohio fingerprinting process must begin immediately upon contract signing. Candidates must be responsive and cooperative with credentialing requirements.

Eligibility: Former employees eligible after 6 months away from facility. Current employees at this facility network are ineligible. Local candidates accepted.
