Sales Engineer - Mid Atlantic

Job Responsibilities Conduct daily sales appointments to existing and prospective customers to promote Nidec Drives solutions, with a focus on in-person meetings. Present product features and benefits to win against competitors. Qualify opportunities to prioritize time and resources; collaborate with field applications engineers for presales technical qualification and to determine appropriate engagement point in the sales cycle. Move opportunities through the sales cycle, focusing on those with highest chance of closing. Develop and maintain a sales plan for assigned territory or accounts that meets or exceeds the order plan and grows market share. Develop new business with target accounts, aligning with Nidec Drives’ segmentation strategy (Channel, Machine Builders, HVAC/Flow) in collaboration with the regional director for the territory. Demonstrate prospecting capabilities using company tools, identify target accounts for direct solicitation, and support marketing campaigns. Conduct joint‑prospecting sessions with channel partners to hunt and farm opportunities. Maintain proficiency in Salesforce; create and update project opportunity pipelines to support close rates and quarterly/annual targets. Track OEM and End User accounts in CRM, ensuring projects and key concerns are understood and monitored. Meet KPIs centered around project opportunities to close, new business development, new fiscal year customers, large opportunities, visitation and sales calls, and others required by the Regional Sales Director. Provide on‑time weekly reports per the Regional template, including forecast updates, key actions, and focus areas. Complete commercial and technical training on products across the portfolio, demonstrating technical aptitude for soliciting and addressing customer application questions, product sizing, selection, operation, and best practices, including servo, variable frequency drives, and related configuration software. Showcase standard demo equipment, train customers on product features and benefits, follow up aggressively on leads, and maintain vehicle/customer presence. Collaborate with inside sales and channel partners to amplify efforts and drive territory growth. Demonstrate technical competency in industrial, HVAC, pumping, and general automation markets, relating customer goals to the Nidec Drives product portfolio, including software and hardware. Analyze facts, solve problems, make decisions, and communicate effectively; generate and present written quotations and proposals following current pricing and sales policies. Assist with sponsored trade shows and adhere to current sales processes and policies. Join any relevant professional organization representing sectors the company serves. Customer and Travel Requirements Direct customer interaction. Approximately 33% overnight travel. Required Qualifications and Experience 7+ years of experience. Four‑year technical or engineering degree (BSEE, BSE, BSEET, BSME, BSMET preferred) OR 5 additional years of experience selling drives or motion control. 2 years of experience in the automation field. Prior experience working with distribution partners to grow sales. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Ability to work independently and with a team. Strong desire for prospecting new customers. Demonstrated order growth performance. Self‑starter attitude. Handles moderately complex problems requiring broad experience and technical expertise. Leadership & Talent Management: Coaches, reviews, and delegates work; manages end‑to‑end projects or processes. Knowledge & Experience: Requires extensive technical knowledge of specialty area, cross‑functional knowledge, and a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with minimum 7 years of relevant experience.
