The nurse will care for post-op medical surgical patients. Getting patients up and moving is a priority. Providing CHG baths is also essential. The nurse will work with a patient ratio of 1:5. The unit offers interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Special equipment available on the floor includes Sit/Stand lifts, Hoyer lifts, bladder scanners, and EKG machines. The nurse is required to float within the service line as needed. The role involves performing and reading EKGs, with training provided if necessary. The nurse must pass an EKG exam related to dysrhythmias. Phlebotomy services are offered on the unit throughout the day. The nurse will collaborate with house staff and nurse practitioners available during weekdays. Experience with time management, teamwork, and prioritization is necessary. Utilizing charting systems efficiently is required, specifically with Epic. Flexibility with scheduling is important, but block scheduling cannot be accommodated. Travelers are accepted; however, there are restrictions regarding local candidates. Scheduling time off is limited, and must be finalized at the time of submission. No add-ons or new requests for time off can be made after submission. The candidate should maintain a professional demeanor and commitment to patient care. Working in a dynamic acute care setting is essential.
