Adjunct Faculty - Music Department

Position: Adjunct Faculty – College Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, Department of Music. Department Overview Our outstanding Department of Music prepares students for careers in classical performance, jazz performance and composition, sound engineering arts, music education, music and entertainment industries, and popular music. Students work directly with world‑renowned faculty who are also in‑demand performers. Students gain hands‑on experience in our state‑of‑the‑art music production and recording studios. Undergraduate courses taught in this department include: Music Performance, Music Education, Music Theory, Music History, Music Business, Sound Engineering. Graduate courses include: Music Performance, Music Education, Music Management. Duties and Responsibilities Develop relevant syllabi using the course outline as a guide, deploying course content, objectives, and methods of student assessment for up to six credits per semester in an undergraduate course. Contribute to student success by providing consistent and effective support and guidance through role modeling and mentoring and being available to the students for their questions and needs. Teach in person and/or online depending upon course schedules and department needs. Required Qualifications (Undergraduate Courses) M.A. or M.M. in a music discipline. Five or more years of experience as a professional musician. Full‑time or part‑time employment or active professional practice. Ability to teach online. Preferred Qualifications (Undergraduate Courses) Experience teaching music at the collegiate level. Expertise and confidence with the technical aspects of the applicant’s musical instrument. Professional activity within discipline such as relevant‑to‑teaching area. Experience teaching both online and in person. Required Qualifications (Graduate Courses) M.A. or M.M. in a music discipline. Ten or more years of experience in music performance, music education, or music business management. Full‑time or part‑time employment or active professional practice. Ability to teach online. Preferred Qualifications (Graduate Courses) D.M.A. or Ph.D. Published peer or non‑peer reviewed articles, conference papers, blogs, or books. Professional recordings. A history of music performance at a nationally or internationally recognized level. Personal Attributes and Traits Ability to translate experience into pedagogical approaches that enhance curriculum relevance. Demonstrated commitment to engage in continuous professional development activities. Demonstrated commitment to content, teaching excellence, assessment strategies, and positive outcomes. Capable of exhibiting patience and resourcefulness in managing student challenges. Ability to effectively address competing wants and needs by developing and sustaining robust working relationships in a diverse environment. Demonstrated ability to set and work toward common goals in a collaborative environment. Adjuncts Per Credit Rate New employees – $2,100 per credit.
