Senior Corporate Counsel, Business Development Transactions Law

Bristol Myers Squibb seeks a Senior Corporate Counsel to provide lead legal guidance on complex business development transactions, including licensing, collaborations, M&A, and equity investments. The role requires independent leadership of deal structures, diligence coordination, and mentorship of junior attorneys within a purpose-driven organization.

Responsibilities

Lead structuring, drafting, and negotiation of business development transactions across multiple deal types
Define legal diligence scope and coordinate across IP, litigation, antitrust, regulatory, tax, and specialist functions
Coordinate antitrust and regulatory strategy with specialist counsel and external advisors
Oversee external counsel relationships and manage legal support quality, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness
Mentor other business development attorneys and review work product on assigned transactions

Requirements

J.D. degree and state bar admission
Minimum 10 years legal experience in biopharmaceutical/life sciences transactions
Demonstrated expertise leading high-value licensing, collaboration, and M&A deals from term sheet to closing
Strong knowledge of biopharmaceutical industry structures, development models, and regulatory environment
Sound judgment on significant legal and business issues with clear escalation awareness
Strong interpersonal skills and executive presence to advise senior stakeholders
High integrity aligned with company values

Compensation: $255,260 - $309,309 base
