Department of Developmental Services - Headquarters Job Title: CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER (HEALTH FACILITY) Salary: $8,265.00 - $10,066.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range when applicable. Role Overview The Department of Developmental Services seeks a compassionate and dedicated Clinical Social Worker to join the Stabilization Training Assistance Reintegration (STAR) Acute Crisis Homes team. This position supports individuals with developmental disabilities during times of acute crisis in a community home setting (Vacaville, Springville, and Costa Mesa). The STAR program provides assistance to adolescents (11‑17 years) and adults (18+ years) who receive regional center services. Responsibilities Assist individuals with activities of daily living and provide emotional support. Promote independence and facilitate therapeutic interventions. Engage in person‑centered care, ensuring a safe and supportive environment. Maintain accurate documentation and case notes in compliance with agency policies. Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans. Working Conditions Heavy lifting (over 25 lbs) combined with pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, squatting, grabbing, carrying, kneeling, twisting, and reaching at or above shoulder level may be required. The role involves frequent interaction with individuals who have developmental disabilities and severe psychiatric and behavioral conditions. Potential exposure to communicable diseases and blood‑borne pathogens is possible. Work may include extended hours, variable shifts, site changes, travel, and overnight stays across the three STAR locations and DDS headquarters. Minimum Requirements Current California Clinical Social Worker license (Health Facility classification). Valid California Driver’s License. Pass a drug screening, background investigation, medical clearance, and provide a copy of the Social Worker license prior to hire. Qualifications Master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling from an accredited institution and a minimum of one year of employment as a Social Worker in an agency serving children or group residential program for children. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with at least one year of administrative or supervisory experience over social work, child care, or DSPs in a community care facility with a licensed capacity of seven or more. Possession of at least two years of experience in an accredited college/university and at least two years of administrative/supervisory experience over social work, child care, or DSPs in a community care facility with a licensed capacity of seven or more. High school diploma (or equivalent) with at least three years of administrative or supervisory experience over social work, child care, or staff providing direct services to children in a community care facility with a licensed capacity of seven or more. Qualified behavior modification professional with two years of experience in designing, supervising, and implementing behavior modification services; LCSW or LMFT (Title 17 Section 59050(v)).
