Assistant Controller

Company: Technology and Media Firm Job Title: Assistant Controller Compensation: $150,000 - $175,000/annually Location: New York, New York – Hybrid (on-site 3x week) About the role: We are partnering with a global technology media firm, who is seeking a hands-on Assistant Controller to manage the accounting function. You will be responsible for day-to-day accounting operations and help with process improvement and automation. You’ll partner closely with leadership to implement best practices and support strategic decision-making. This is an opportunity to shape the financial foundation of a high-growth company. Key Responsibilities: Own the accounting function: Manage all aspects of accounting, including GL, AP, AR, payroll, and month-end close. Implement and optimize technology and systems: Drive system setup, integrations, and workflows to ensure efficiency and accuracy. Financial reporting & compliance: Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements. Scale processes: Design and implement scalable accounting processes to support rapid growth and future fundraising rounds. Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with the CEO, operations, and leadership to provide insights and support strategic initiatives. Audit readiness: Lead audit preparation and liaise with external auditors. Qualifications: CPA designation and Big 4 public accounting experience required. ERP expertise: Proven experience within ERP and accounting systems. Strong knowledge of US GAAP and accounting principles. Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and leadership skills; comfortable being both strategic and hands-on.
