Job Summary Apply for Business Development & Proposal Manager at GFT in Kansas City, MO. Responsibilities Supervisory : May manage one or more assistant proposal specialists/proposal specialists on a day‑to‑day basis; assign tasks, review work for compliance, and serve as timesheet approver. May manage and/or assist the Business Development Manager or Leader with proposal workload and resourcing for regional or global business development teams. Perform Performance Evaluation Reviews, recommend training, and provide input to the annual training plan for the department. Proposals : Own the cradle‑to‑grave internal support from client management through proposal development phases of the BD Lifecycle Program (BDLP). Manage proposal efforts, review and write proposals, and ensure capture strategy is defined and transitioned to proposal strategy. Lead multiple large, long‑term and complex pursuits concurrently, lead interview development, and organize resources (graphics, print production, etc.) to produce a quality proposal. Capture Planning : Proactively identify opportunities in the pipeline, initiate and lead capture planning support for long‑term, complex opportunities concurrently without managerial oversight. Research and drive development of opportunities with the Capture Manager, prioritize each opportunity, keep CRM documentation updated, and use capture management plans in accordance with company templates and standards. Coordinate with MARCOM staff to define needs and develop strategic plan recommendations for early opportunity pre‑positioning activities. Client Management : Develop client and teaming relationships at the direction of the client or capture managers, including industry activities such as trade shows. Lead Tier1 and/or Tier2 client management plans for a single business line without managerial oversight. Facilitate client management meetings, ensure documentation in CRM, and coordinate with MARCOM staff for early client pre‑positioning activities. Required Qualifications 4‑year degree in English, marketing, journalism, communications, or a related field. 10+ years of total combined experience in the full lifecycle of business development (marketing, communications, client, capture, and proposal phases), with most experience focused in one or more GFT core business lines. Minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience supporting, facilitating, and participating in capture planning support. Minimum 5 years of increasing responsibility in the business development lifecycle phases. At least 2 years of experience supervising staff (if applicable). Strong written and verbal communication skills, strategic thinking, and ability to manage multiple complex pursuits concurrently. Preferred Qualifications Experience specifically in the Midwest region. Certification or training in business development, marketing, communications, or sales from an industry professional organization. Experience with proposal governance frameworks and best‑practice templates. Compensation Salary range: $115,000 - $130,000, dependent upon experience and geographic location.
