Core Values: Courage, Kindness, Honor, Purpose Position Description The Girls Junior Varsity Assistant Tennis Coach reports to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for assisting in the overall management of the junior varsity girls tennis team under the leadership of the Head Junior Varsity Tennis Coach. This position is responsible for coaching and providing direction to student athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for physical fitness, discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork in tennis. Note: This position requires travel and work on weekends and evenings. Work Requirements The Girls Junior Varsity Assistant Tennis Coach must exhibit high standards of professionalism and communication. They must be exceedingly well organized, flexible and enjoy the challenges of working with high school students. They must have the ability to interact with students, parents, and staff, sometimes under pressure, while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient. This person must support the value of an education. Responsibilities Critical features of this job are described below. Functions & Responsibilities: Support the coordination and supervision of the Girls Junior Varsity Tennis program. Ensures that Branson and League policies, rules and regulations regarding the conduct of athletic activities and athletes are followed. Works with the Athletic Department to plan and organize practices and games schedules. Maintains a safe environment for student athletes at all times. Develop an appropriate training program and practice schedules. Ensures the regular supervision of student athletes at home and away games and ensures appropriate behavior. Ensures that student athletes adhere to training rules, class and grade requirements, and rules of behavior on the court, in conditioning, and in the locker room. Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff, parents, and officials. Resolves all conflicts in a professional manner. Professionally represents Branson in all interactions with the community at large. Ensures the proper cleaning, storage, and maintenance of all athletic equipment and uniforms. Makes recommendations regarding the purchase of uniforms, equipment, and supplies. Also manages inventory. Maintains necessary records and completes Paycom timecard within the specified timeframes and manner. Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required. Attends work regularly and is punctual to all practices and games. Obtain advance approval for the Athletic Director for all team-related expenditures. Manages other duties as assigned. Position Requirements Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is preferred. Experience: One to two years of experience as a tennis coach. Certificates: CPR Certified through American Red Cross; must have and maintain a valid driver's license. Skills: Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize; problem-solving skills and creativity. Qualities: Experience working and communicating with diverse groups of people; ability to act professionally and keep students' records confidential; ability to make decisions and handle conflicts. Physical Requirements Strength: Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Use strength to lift items, raising objects from lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. Must be able to assist with athletes of various weights and heights. Mobility: Must be able to stand for long periods of time, have good mobility skills and be able to walk long distances. Must be able to bend at hips and knees. Environment: Must work in noisy and crowded environments. Must be able to carry training kit and coolers for long distances.
