We are seeking a detail-oriented Property Accountant to manage the accounting and financial reporting activities for a portfolio of commercial and/or residential properties. The Property Accountant will be responsible for month-end close, financial statement preparation, tenant billing, reconciliations, budgeting support, and ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements for assigned properties.
• Complete month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
• Review and reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and general ledger activity.
• Manage tenant billings, lease administration accounting, rent rolls, and CAM reconciliations.
• Analyze operating expenses and variances against budget and prior periods.
• Assist with annual budget preparation, forecasting, and cash flow reporting.
• Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable activity for assigned properties.
• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
• Prepare workpapers and support schedules for audits, tax filings, and lender requests.
• Ensure accuracy and compliance with lease agreements and property management contracts.
• Collaborate with property managers and asset managers to resolve accounting issues and provide financial insights.
• Assist with acquisitions, dispositions, and property transitions as needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 4+ years of property accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and account reconciliations.
• Experience with property management/accounting software such as Yardi, MRI, RealPage, AppFolio, or similar platforms preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and financial analysis.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
