Job Title: Assembly Technician Job Description

The Assembly Technician plays a key role in producing specialized pressure switches and liquid level (float) switches used in demanding environments such as aircraft, military electronics, military vehicles, nuclear power plants, high-value machine tools, and railroad equipment. This role focuses on precise small-tool assembly work in a clean, well-lit, and family-like shop environment, with opportunities to learn soldering and grow technical skills over time.

• Perform detailed assembly of pressure switches and liquid level (float) switches using hand and power tools in a manufacturing setting.
• Follow blueprints and electrical/mechanical schematics to assemble components accurately and consistently.
• Carry out small-tool assembly tasks that require good dexterity, precision, and attention to detail.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively as part of daily assembly operations.
• Learn and perform soldering tasks on components and assemblies, with training provided as needed.
• Inspect assembled units for quality, completeness, and adherence to specifications.
• Maintain an organized and clean work area within the shop environment.
• Collaborate with a small team in the shop, communicating clearly and documenting work as required.
• Read and interpret written instructions, work orders, and technical documentation to complete assignments.
• Contribute to a safe, laid-back, and cooperative work atmosphere while meeting production expectations.

• 1–2 years of assembly experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficient use of hand tools and power tools, with hands-on experience considered a must.
• Ability to read and write clearly to follow work instructions and document tasks.
• Experience working from blueprints and schematics, with the ability to interpret technical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail when performing small-tool assembly work.
• Good manual dexterity for handling small components and precise assembly tasks.
• Comfort with soldering or willingness to learn and perform soldering as part of the role.
• Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with basic mechanical assembly processes.

• Prior soldering experience is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
• Experience assembling products for industrial, aerospace, or similarly demanding applications is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively in a small, close-knit team environment.
• Comfort working in a laid-back atmosphere while maintaining quality and productivity.
• Willingness to learn new techniques and adapt to different product configurations.

The role is based in a small, family-like shop with a total team of about eight people, including three working in the shop. The atmosphere is very laid-back, with music playing on speakers and the ability to sit at your station during portions of the day. The facility is clean and well-lit, supporting focus and precision work. There is no formal dress code, and steel-toe footwear is not required, allowing for comfortable attire while you work with hand and power tools at your station.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Davenport, IA.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
