Job Title: Staff Nurse Specialty Care Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Critical Care Float Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 6 months to 3 years of nursing experience License: Current Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: - Collaboration - Communication (verbal and written) - Judgment/Critical Thinking - Organizational Understanding - Planning (Organizing, Time Management) - Problem Solving - Quality - Reliability - Safety and Risk Management Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities. Prevention of illness and injury and alleviation of suffering are primary responsibilities. The RN is responsible for compliance with all standards of practice and professional development. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care. The RN assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care. The RN manages a group of patients, serving as a primary nurse when designated by unit assignment. Safety, effectiveness, competency, and cost are considered in all nursing activities. The RN educates patients and families in health promotion and disease management. A working knowledge of pharmacology is utilized in administering medications safely. The RN shares in responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization. All nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and policies are complied with. The RN actively participates in and supports nursing governance models and improvement initiatives. Professional development, continuing education, and completion of all mandatory education are engaged in. Nursing research and current evidence are integrated into practice. A supportive learning environment for new employees and students is provided. Duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role may be assigned. Participation in development programs and contributing to peer review practices is expected. The RN will perform other duties as assigned.
