Specimen Technician

Job Title

Job Overview: Pay Range: $17.20hr - $18hr

Requirement/Must Have:

• Strong data entry skills required with the ability to enter 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.
• Basic computer knowledge required.
• Strong organizational and communication skills required.
• Ability to work in a biohazard and production-based environment required.
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods required.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call schedules required based on staffing needs.

Responsibilities:

• Perform general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department.
• Handle activities including A-station processing, presort, specimen pickup and delivery, imaging/microfilming, centrifugation, and aliquoting.
• Ensure all tasks are completed accurately, confidently, and within required timelines.
• Learn and understand specimen types related to laboratory testing requirements.
• Maintain knowledge of compliance regulations related to test ordering and specimen processing.
• Support departmental productivity and quality standards in a high-volume production environment.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Communicate effectively with staff at all levels.
• Follow safety, compliance, and operational procedures.
• Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing customer and departmental needs.

Should Have:

• Previous laboratory experience preferred.
• Medical background with knowledge of clinical laboratory terminology preferred.
• Previous hospital laboratory experience preferred.
• Experience working in a production environment preferred.
• Knowledge of laboratory testing or specimen processing preferred.

Qualification and Education:
