Security Comm Officer

Job Title: Security Dispatcher (Full Time, Evening, 10 hour) – FTE 1.0 – R2657308 – Onsite – PALO ALTO, 300 Pasteur Dr, California Overview This position reports to the Security Services Supervisor and/or appointed shift commander. The Security Dispatcher will manage emergency and non‑emergency service calls, operating a dispatch system and monitoring CCTV, fire and other system alarms, and logging incidents. The dispatcher works in the Security Operations Center. Responsibilities Answer all telephone calls promptly and courteously and triage calls, prioritizing and dispatching accordingly. Closely monitor radio traffic during situations that present potential danger to personnel and dispatch additional staff as needed. Maintain current status of personnel in the field, enforce proper radio control and courtesy. Monitor CCTV to identify suspicious activity and dispatch personnel as appropriate. Monitor fire and other system alarms and notify of activations. Question emergency callers to elicit complete and accurate information, enter data into the dispatch computer system, and maintain accurate records and logs. Respond to requests at the customer window at the security operations center and to the medical center during activation of Disaster Plan. Select emergency response levels and personnel per established policies and procedures, as directed by the SOC Supervisor or Watch Commander. Display a thorough work process with each step completed. Be able to act as a Security Officer when operational needs dictate. Education High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Experience Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Adapt to and deal with change and ambiguity. Meet physical requirements as needed to perform the job functions. Licenses & Certifications Valid California Driver’s License. California Proprietary Private Security Officer License within 90 days. Security Guard Registration Card within 90 days. Compensation Base Pay Scale: Generally starts at $32.46 – $36.54 per hour. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
