Location: Baytown, TX

Work Setting: 100% onsite, 5 days per week

Compensation: $90,000-$100,000 base salary

Bonus: 8% target bonus

Position Summary

A growing industrial manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Buyer to join its Purchasing team in Baytown, TX.

This is a newly created position driven by company growth and will focus primarily on the procurement of capital equipment supporting Field Services operations. The Buyer will take ownership of significant purchasing activity, work directly with equipment suppliers, and partner closely with Engineering and Quality to ensure equipment is sourced at the right cost, quality, and delivery requirements.

This is not a transactional purchasing role. The ideal candidate brings approximately 5-7 years of purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment, has experience buying capital equipment and managing significant spend, and is comfortable independently negotiating with suppliers and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced operation.

What You'll Do
• Manage sourcing and procurement of capital equipment supporting Field Services operations
• Obtain and evaluate supplier quotes based on pricing, availability, quality, technical requirements, and delivery
• Negotiate equipment pricing, commercial terms, contracts, purchasing agreements, and delivery schedules
• Manage significant purchasing activity that may represent millions of dollars in annual spend
• Identify, evaluate, select, and develop relationships with equipment vendors and suppliers
• Partner closely with Engineering and Quality throughout equipment sourcing, supplier selection, and procurement
• Coordinate equipment and material delivery schedules to support operational and project requirements
• Support supplier performance and resolve purchasing, delivery, or commercial issues as they arise
• Maintain purchasing activity, documentation, and purchase orders within ERP systems
• Provide purchasing coverage for other Buyers as needed while maintaining primary ownership of capital equipment procurement

What You Bring
• Approximately 5-7 years of purchasing, procurement, or sourcing experience
• Manufacturing industry experience required
• Experience purchasing capital equipment or other high-value industrial equipment strongly desired
• Experience managing significant purchasing spend and supplier relationships
• Strong negotiation skills with experience securing favorable pricing, terms, and delivery commitments
• Ability to operate independently and make sound purchasing decisions with limited oversight
• Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing or industrial environment
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Engineering, Quality, suppliers, and other internal stakeholders
• ERP/MRP experience
• Ability to work onsite five days per week in Baytown, TX

Preferred Qualifications
• Direct capital equipment procurement experience
• Experience managing purchasing spend in the millions of dollars
• Background purchasing both capital equipment and manufacturing raw materials
• Experience supporting industrial equipment, Field Services, manufacturing expansion, or related operations
• Experience with Infor or a related ERP platform
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, or a related discipline
• Experience with strategic sourcing, supplier selection, contract negotiation, and vendor performance management
