Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (06:30 - 19:00) Experience: 1 year of recent experience required License: Must possess a valid nursing license Certifications: BLS required; CPI preferred Must-Have: - Nurse to patient ratios: 1:6 - Rapid response team activation experience - Epic charting experience - Ability to manage high patient volumes Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse specialized in Medical Surgical. The role requires managing up to six patients at a time. Nurses will be activating rapid response teams as needed. Epic charting experience is essential for this role. The unit accommodates a daily census of 32 patients. Care for patients includes a variety of medical conditions requiring comprehensive assessments and interventions. Skills in blood product administration and managing chest tubes are preferable. Experience with colostomy and ileostomy care will be beneficial. Nurses will be responsible for managing feeding tubes and administering medications. Isolation precautions and PPE protocols must be followed at all times. Attention to detail is critical in maintaining accurate patient records and communication. Care for patients during pre and post-hemodialysis is part of the responsibilities. Wound care management, including the use of wound vacs, is expected. Floating to like units may be required based on facility needs. Travellers will receive a brief orientation to the unit. Candidates should be prepared to comply with all health and safety regulations. The nursing team works closely with interdisciplinary support, including physical therapy and respiratory services. All candidates must have the ability to work weekends, fulfilling a total of six weekend shifts within a six-week period.
