Construction Accountant

We are working with an excellent construction company in Greensboro and we are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Accountant to support the financial operations of construction projects. This role is responsible for managing project-based accounting, including job costing, budgeting, and financial reporting, while partnering with project managers to ensure projects stay on budget and financially on track. Responsibilities Manage full-cycle accounting for construction projects, including AP, AR, and general ledger Perform job costing and project cost tracking for labor, materials, subcontractors, and overhead Develop and monitor project budgets and analyze variances against actual costs Prepare monthly financial statements, WIP schedules, and project profitability reports Process and review invoices, pay applications, and vendor/subcontractor payments Collaborate with project managers to evaluate financial performance and forecasts Perform bank and account reconciliations and support month-end close Maintain accurate financial records for audits, compliance, and tax reporting Monitor cash flow and billing cycles to ensure timely collections Identify cost-saving opportunities and financial risks within projects Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or project-based accounting Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP (work-in-progress), and percentage-of-completion accounting Proficiency in accounting software – Sage preferred Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis) Understanding of construction processes, contracts, and billing practices Strong attention to detail and analytical skills #J-18808-Ljbffr
