Human Resources Manager
We are seeking to hire a full-time Human Resources Manager. This position is an in-person role and will be based out of our Corporate Headquarters in Sun Valley, California. This position will be required to periodically travel between other Southern California company locations.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain, update, and distribute the employee handbook
- Consult with firm labor attorneys to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws
- Administer and ensure employee compliance with all human resources policies and procedures
- Provide advice to managers and staff on employee relations issues
- Support both Union and Non-union employees
- Ensure job postings comply with the state mandates
- Oversee the recruitment process for open positions
- Manage pre-employment screening protocols, manage onboarding, and oversee new hire orientation
- Coordinate with and advise department managers on all human resources issues
- Manage the employee disciplinary process.
- Manage and oversee time off requests including, but not limited to vacation, sick, and leave of absence, including FMLA, CFRA, PFL, and PDL
- Administer companywide employee benefit plans, workers compensation and COBRA to ensure compliance with labor laws, privacy laws, and ERISA
- Monitor all workers compensation claims and return to work matters closely with our workers comp TPA
- Closely interact with the Safety Manager on all accident-related matters
- Participate during annual renewal process for the Company’s health and welfare plans
- Manage open enrollment process for all employee benefit programs including health and welfare plans and retirement plans
- Act as liaison between insurance broker and employees on questions regarding employee benefit plans
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree desired
- 5 years of human resources experience
- Experience managing leave programs
- Knowledge of California labor laws
- Navigate nuanced workplace challenges
- Champion workplace culture by designing alternative solutions to complex HR issues
- Ability to forge strong, trusting, collaborative relationships at all levels across the organization
- Ability to organize, prioritize and complete tasks under short time constraints
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required
Salary Range $100 - $140k, depending on experience and education.
$28 - $36 per hour
