Position Overview

Our organization is in search of a committed Registered Nurse to join our Oncology Float Pool at the New Brunswick campus. This part-time position entails working 36 hours per week during night shifts.

As a key part of our team, you will be working at RWJ University Hospital, recognized as the primary teaching hospital within our health system and one of only three Level 1 trauma centers in New Jersey. This esteemed academic medical center is celebrated for its exceptional clinical quality and dedication to providing outstanding patient care. Our team is focused on ensuring safe, high-quality treatment for all individuals.

Nurses in our float pool are essential, delivering exceptional care across diverse patient populations, including those in trauma, neurology, cardiology, orthopedics, and oncology. Our float pool nurses exemplify expertise, adaptability, resilience, effective communication, and teamwork. We are expanding our team to continue offering expert nursing support across our units.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards, while adhering to ethical guidelines as outlined by the ANA code of ethics.
• Ensure safety in practice, integrating evidence-based principles and maintaining awareness of personal knowledge and experience levels.
• Report any identified safety concerns, including hazardous environments and medical errors.
• Understand the specific patient population being served.
• Supervise and guide the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members, collaborating with other healthcare providers.
• Set and assess priorities consistently through appropriate interventions aimed at measurable outcomes.
• Act as an individual practitioner and interdisciplinary team manager, utilizing the nursing process to tailor care plans to meet individual patient needs.

Qualifications

• Required:
  • ASN or Nursing Diploma
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities
  • Proficient in computer skills
• Preferred:
  • BSN or completion within five years of hire
  • 2-3 years of experience in Medical Surgical/Oncology

Certifications and Licenses

• BLS and ACLS certification
• Active Registered Nurse License in New Jersey

Scheduling Details

This position requires night shifts, totaling 36 hours per week, from 7 PM to 7:30 AM, Monday through Friday, with some rotation on weekends and holidays.
