Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa US - CA - Huntington Beach Culinary Department Head/Manager Full‑time 84,900.00 Yearly US Dollar (USD) pay basis What does the role entail? As Chef de Cuisine of Pete’s Sunset Grille Restaurant, the candidate will assist the Executive Chef in overseeing restaurant culinary operations, ensuring optimum guest and employee satisfaction. The role is designed to allow the individual to act as an independent owner/operator while providing leadership, menu development, and operational excellence. Responsibilities Act as senior leadership by developing and assuming key management responsibilities Serve as liaison between dining room operations and culinary staff Supervise preparation and cooking of various food items Develop and implement creative menu items within the restaurant concept Plan, coordinate, and implement special events and holiday functions Manage hourly kitchen employees through scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, evaluating, and hiring Manage other key culinary leaders such as supervisors and less senior sous chefs Lead and coach the team towards achieving exceptional guest service and employee satisfaction Monitor food production, ordering, cost, and quality and consistency on a daily basis Participate in marketing events directly related to the restaurant Responsible for short‑term and long‑term planning and management of front and back of house Oversee employee development, hiring, training, empowerment, coaching, performance, and salary reviews Assist in implementation of payroll, reports, forecasts, inventory, and budget for operations Resolve customer complaints as appropriate to maintain high quality and satisfaction Implement procedures to increase guest and associate satisfaction Maintain Hyatt standards of service and ensure compliance Perform daily walk‑throughs to ensure compliance with Department of Health regulations and Hyatt Corporate standards Qualifications In-depth skills and knowledge of all kitchen operations Strong leadership, communication, organization, and relationship skills Experience with training, basic financial management, and customer service Desire to exceed guest expectations in a fast‑paced environment Ability to produce consistent product in a timely manner Strong training and communication skills Culinary education and/or on‑the‑job training; independent restaurant experience preferred Geographic and schedule flexibility, including evenings, weekends, and holidays High energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leadership, proven track record in high‑volume concept, effective communicator, ability to improve the bottom line Refined verbal and written communication skills, including competency with Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher Detail oriented, organized, and excellent organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills Physical stamina to lift moderate amounts of weight and ability to stand and walk for long periods What You Will Love About Us Full‑time benefit eligibility after thirty days Discount hotel stays for colleagues, friends, and family Complimentary parking in underground structure Complimentary meals during work hours Health, Dental, Vision insurance eligibility after thirty days of employment Hyatt Perks with thousands of national and local partner discounts Development Hyatt is committed to the growth of colleagues, providing a community where diverse individuals explore new ways of thinking and expanding capabilities.
