Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in Elizabeth, NJ, with a minimum of two years' litigation experience. The role involves handling landlord-tenant, commercial litigation, and real estate matters, offering significant courtroom exposure and client interaction.

Duties

Handle commercial and residential landlord-tenant matters from inception through resolution.
Regularly appear in court for hearings, motions, settlement conferences, and trials.
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery demands and responses, and legal memoranda.
Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategy.
Handle commercial litigation involving leases, contracts, real estate disputes, and related matters.
Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other parties.
Manage an active caseload while working with the attorneys and support staff in the office.
Take ownership and responsibility for assigned matters.

Requirements

J.D. from an accredited law school.
Admitted to practice law in New Jersey.
At least two years of litigation experience.
Strong writing, research, advocacy, and negotiation skills.
Strong organizational and case-management skills.
Comfortable appearing in court and dealing directly with clients.
Able to work independently in a busy litigation practice.
Desire to work, learn, take responsibility, and develop as an attorney.

Education

J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications

Admitted to practice law in New Jersey.

Skills

Strong writing, research, advocacy, and negotiation skills.
Strong organizational and case-management skills.
Comfortable appearing in court and dealing directly with clients.
