Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Job Description

Job Summary:

Provides specialized nursing care to women during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods. Oversees and coordinates clinical activities within the Labor and Delivery department to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate patient care.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor maternal and fetal health during labor and delivery to identify any complications.
• Administer medications and interventions as prescribed to support labor progress and manage pain.
• Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, and the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and families about labor, delivery procedures, postpartum care, and newborn care.
• Supervise and delegate tasks to nursing staff and support personnel, ensuring adherence to hospital protocols.
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in electronic medical records.

Qualifications:

• Hold a current RN license in the state of practice.
• Demonstrate recent experience in Labor and Delivery nursing, preferably a minimum of two years.
• Possess BLS certification; ACLS and NRP certifications required or preferred.
• Exhibit strong assessment and critical thinking skills with the ability to respond promptly to emergencies.
• Show excellent communication and teamwork abilities to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
