An opportunity is available for a licensed practical nurse to support a 7th grade student in a school-based setting in the Anoka, MN area. This contract position offers a meaningful role for someone with strong pediatric skills who is passionate about providing vital one-on-one nursing care.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid LPN license issued by the state of Minnesota
- Active CPR/AED certification
- Two or more years of experience working with pediatric patients or students
- Demonstrated expertise in tracheostomy care and suctioning, including working with students or patients with trach tubes
- Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
- Willingness to ride the school bus with the student before and after the school day as part of a consistent daily routine
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver dedicated, individualized care to a 7th grade student with complex medical and/or developmental needs during the school day
- Monitor and care for the student’s tracheostomy, performing suctioning and implementing the healthcare plan as required
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of all observations, care interventions, and health-related activities
- Work collaboratively with the school’s Health Services team, educational staff, and the student’s family
- Ensure consistent communication and professional support for both the student and school personnel
- Uphold all health and safety protocols in the educational environment
This assignment follows the assigned school calendar, with a 37.5-hour work week, and is tentatively scheduled to continue through early June 2027.
