AMA Certified Medical Assistant

This role supports licensed nurses, physicians, and advanced practice providers by performing a variety of clinical and administrative tasks. General Summary The Medical Assistant operates within their scope to deliver patient care as delegated by nursing staff or providers. The ideal candidate is organized, professional, detail-oriented, and able to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control and safe patient handling. Assist patients by escorting them to exam rooms, obtaining vital signs, EKGs, and verifying medication and allergy histories. Document patient information accurately and promptly in medical records. Manage phone communications, relay messages, and act as a liaison between patients and providers. Communicate test results to patients and assist with follow-up calls. Administer medications as ordered, perform point-of-care lab testing, and collect specimens. Schedule appointments, procedures, and complete necessary authorizations and referrals. Maintain exam room supplies and cleanliness. Educate patients on electronic health record access and assist with enrollment. Support orientation and training of new medical assistants. Demonstrate accountability, teamwork, and reliability in attendance and performance. Education Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or Medical Specialist program is required, or equivalent experience. A high school diploma is necessary. Experience At least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant or related medical specialist is preferred. Experience in a clinical setting is advantageous. Certification and Licenses Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credentials from an accredited organization such as AMT are preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required. Mental and Physical Requirements This position requires significant mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs, frequent walking, standing, and various movements such as stooping and reaching. Working Conditions Exposure to infectious diseases and occasional challenging interactions with patients may occur. Minimal physical discomfort is expected. MLee Medical Employment
