Maternal Fetal Medicine Division Director Position

Our organization’s Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) team is dedicated to delivering advanced care to high-risk patients throughout their journey, from preconception to postpartum. We collaborate closely with specialists in neonatology, genetics, and both medicine and pediatric subspecialties to ensure optimal outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities

• General Management:
  • In partnership with the Department Chair and MFM System Division Director, formulate, implement, and periodically revise a strategic plan for the division.
  • Create a supportive work atmosphere that encourages open communication across all levels.
  • Promote a culture of professionalism, trust, and teamwork within the division.
  • Lead the development of essential pathways, protocols, and evidence-based guidelines to uphold the highest standards of quality and cost-effective care.
  • Facilitate weekly division meetings aimed at continuous improvement and growth.
  • Conduct regular meetings with all division staff, including clinical, research, and administrative personnel.
  • Collaborate with leadership to address operational issues related to equipment, supplies, and staffing.
  • Ensure divisional involvement in departmental programs and initiatives, such as Grand Rounds and Peer Learning.
  • Complete annual performance evaluations for practice physicians, assessing productivity and clinical competency.
  • Oversee the Fetal Evaluation Unit (FEU), MFM Practice, and associated offsite locations, including billing and coding, clinical staff management, and maintaining AIUM accreditation.
• Academic Leadership:
  • Maintain necessary medical certifications and ensure the professional development of MFM faculty and staff through continuing education and credentialing oversight.
  • Guide and support the academic progression of faculty and fellows through effective mentorship and evaluation.
  • Ensure contributions to the department's research and quality initiatives.
  • Monitor the quality and timeliness of teaching responsibilities and trainee evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with medical school, residency, and fellowship standards.
  • Collaborate with the MFM Fellowship Director to support fellowship activities, including ACGME accreditation and relevant meetings.
  • Establish and oversee inpatient protocols for high-risk patients.
  • Work with local and system leadership to align ambulatory care policies across the organization.
  • Coordinate with subspecialists for co-management of patients as necessary.
  • Lead interdisciplinary care-planning meetings for patients facing critical medical conditions during pregnancy.
  • Oversee the Prenatal Diabetes Program and collaborate with Cardiology to enhance care for patients with hypertensive disorders and cardiac conditions.
• Research Development:
  • Collaborate with the System Division Director and Vice Chair of Research to create an innovative research plan that encompasses clinical, translational, basic science, and health services research.
  • Recruit faculty whose research interests align with the division's goals.
  • Develop strategies to address funding gaps for researchers and manage shortfalls for those already funded.
  • Encourage collaborative research and training efforts across divisions and departments.
  • Monitor the progress of divisional researchers in conjunction with leadership.
  • Ensure adherence to research administration protocols.

Qualifications

• Medical Degree from an accredited institution.
• Valid New York State Medical License.
• Board Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
• Completion of a fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Maternal Fetal Medicine.
• Active DEA license.
• Demonstrated leadership experience.

Compensation

The compensation for this role ranges from $550,000 to $750,000, excluding bonuses, incentive compensation, or benefits. Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as experience, specialty, historical productivity, and community needs. The stated salary range applies to full-time positions and does not include additional compensation or benefits.
