Apply now Job no: 556073 Work type: Management (MPP) Location: Sacramento Categories: MPP, Administrative, At-Will, Compliance/Legal, Full Time, On-site (work in-person at business location), Telecommute eligible (work onsite as scheduled and/or as requested and telecommute as scheduled), Remote in-state eligible (long distance work arrangement outside business location) Position Summary Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Equal Opportunity (the “Executive Director”), the Title IX/DHR Investigator (the “Investigator”) has primary responsibility for conducting timely and equitable investigations pertaining to protected status discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, sexual exploitation, dating and domestic violence, stalking and retaliation for the entire campus community (faculty, staff, students, third parties). The nature and impact of such investigations will vary in scope and seriousness, such that failure to investigate might subject the University to serious financial risk. The Investigator will conduct investigations and informal resolutions pursuant to CSU policies and applicable state and federal laws. The Investigator will prepare comprehensive investigation reports; compose and send appropriate correspondence with parties, advisors, and others regarding investigations and other aspects of the formal and informal resolution processes; recommend changes to policies or operational practices and/or implementation of training to reduce recurrence of complaints; and, when appropriate, support the Office for Equal Opportunity (“OEO”) in coordinating post‑investigation remedial actions with affected students, employees, departments, and divisions. As needed, the Investigator also assists the OEO with developing and delivering training programs/workshops on protected status discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, sexual exploitation, dating and domestic violence, stalking and retaliation, diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and justice, and other related subject matter. The position may occasionally require attendance at off‑site locations. FLSA Exempt (Not eligible for overtime compensation) Anticipated Hiring Range $7,916 per month – $8,333 per month; commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training. CSU Classification Salary Range $4,135 per month – $12,288 per month Work Hours Monday – Friday; 8:00 am – 5:00 pm including other hours as needed. This position offers flexibility in work location. While OEO is based in Sacramento, CA, we welcome applicants interested in working remotely. The incumbent must perform all CSU‑related work within the State of California. Qualified candidates will be subject to the requirements below, which may change based on business needs: Travel to campus a minimum of 4–8 times per year for essential functions, including but not limited to: OEO team‑building and professional development activities University‑wide events such as town halls and commencements OEO‑led trainings and programming such as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Day of Action, compliance audits, and other administrative functions requiring more frequent in‑person participation The Office for Equal Opportunity (OEO) is the department appointed by the University to address any issues of discrimination, harassment or retaliation. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university in human resources, psychology, social work, law, or another related field. Demonstrated trauma‑informed complaint investigation experience including writing detailed, understandable reports that convey complex issues. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and emotional intelligence skills, including the ability to be impartial, establish rapport, and contribute to a collaborative environment with a diverse range of campus community members. Ability to interpret and communicate policy information to a wide variety of diverse constituents in concise, logical, and grammatically correct reports that convey complex and sensitive issues. Working knowledge of applicable state and federal civil rights (e.g., Title IX, Title VII, VAWA/CampusSaVE Act, ADA, ADEA) and education laws (e.g., FERPA, California Education Code, etc.) and their respective implementing regulations. Demonstrated commitment to serving a diverse population with cultural competence and sensitivity, as well as the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies including staff, students, faculty, administrators, and third parties with diplomacy and tact. Ability to analyze information, define problems, establish facts, collect data, draw logical conclusions and to effectively present information when responding to questions from internal and external customers. Ability to use high‑level discretion and maintain a high level of privacy and confidentiality in handling problems of a sensitive nature and security of confidential records. Ability to work independently and possess self‑direction and case management skills to be able to initiate plans, organize, prioritize, multitask, and coordinate work in a fast‑paced organization with competing priorities and distractions. Working knowledge of and ability to operate standard office equipment including, but not limited to, desktop computer, laptop, copier, fax machine, scanner, and printer. Demonstrated proficiency in the ability to effectively use common computer application programs and related computer software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) in the course of assigned duties. Ability to work on campus and in person. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree (e.g., Juris Doctorate, Master of Social Work, etc.) or certification in internal/private investigations. Two or more years conducting trauma‑informed, culturally competent Title IX, Title VII, or Human Resources/Student Conduct investigations in the CSU or in a higher education or workplace setting. Demonstrated application of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and justice principles in the complaint resolution context. Demonstrated experience and skill in developing and delivering workplace and/or educational training programs, preferably in the civil rights field.
