Traveling Culinary Operations Chef

Are you the chef everyone calls when a kitchen is struggling, a launch needs leadership, or a recipe isn't performing the way it should?
CookUnity is seeking a highly organized, hands-on Traveling Culinary Operations Chef to support our growing network of production kitchens across the United States. This is a unique opportunity for a chef who loves both culinary excellence and operational execution.
You'll work directly with culinary and operations leadership, traveling to kitchens in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Austin, Seattle, and Atlanta , helping chef partners and local teams maintain the highest standards of food quality, consistency, safety, and profitability.
What You'll DoTravel extensively (approximately 50–60%) to CookUnity production facilities nationwide
Lead culinary audits and operational assessments
Conduct recipe testing, validation, and scale-up for production environments
Ensure recipe accuracy, yields, costing, and execution standards
Support new menu launches and onboarding of chef partners
Train kitchen leadership teams on best practices and standard operating procedures
Monitor food quality, presentation, and customer experience metrics
Drive compliance with all health department, food safety, HACCP, and regulatory requirements
Analyze kitchen performance and identify opportunities for efficiency and improvement
Assist with inventory management, purchasing systems, and waste reduction initiatives
Partner closely with Operations, Culinary, Food Safety, and Supply Chain teams
5+ years of executive chef, culinary director, or multi-unit culinary management experience
Strong operational and administrative skills
Deep understanding of large-scale food production and commissary operations
Proven experience with recipe development, testing, and scaling
Expertise in food costing, inventory management, labor management, and kitchen systems
Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and health department compliance
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Comfortable working independently and adapting quickly to new environments
Highly organized with exceptional follow-through and attention to detail
Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the year
This role is perfect for a chef who enjoys solving problems, building teams, and improving systems. You're equally comfortable tasting a sauce, reviewing a P&L, coaching a kitchen manager, or walking a health inspection.
You bring credibility in the kitchen, discipline in operations, and the flexibility to jump into any market and make an immediate impact.
